Joshua Warner (b.2001) is a pianist, composer and sound-designer.
I began my musical journey later than many of my peers, starting at age 17 with an A Level in Music alongside English and Philosophy, despite having no previous formal musical training. This unconventional path led to rapid progress and I achieved my Grade 8 and DipABRSM in Piano Performance at ages 18 and 19, respectively.
I graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a BMus First Class Honours in 2025, receiving the Andrew Grant Bequest Prize for both Portfolio of Compositions and Creative Practice Music Project, achieving the highest marks in each module (91% and 73%) for my original composition, "Under Your Seat" and my microtonal research ("Beyond Equal Temperament: Harmonic Explorations in Alternative Tuning Systems").
During my time at Edinburgh, I worked closely with PigPen Productions to create original scores for short films, including 'Voices at the End of the Line,' which placed in the Top 3 for Best Original Score at the Athens International Monthly Film Festival.
Looking forward, in January 2026 I will be working in Shanghai, China alongside Alex Yates (Director of PigPen Productions) to produce music and sound for upcoming projects. I will be continuing my research into applied microtonal theory.
